Race Results: Run S’more 5K

Sweetest Day, Oct. 15, 2011 began, for a select couple hundred, with the
sweet smell of chocolate in the air. On the property of
Harry London Chocolates and Fannie May,
Grunt Girl Racing hosted the inaugural Run S’more 5K.

The idea for Run S’more began after a winter run last year.
The Grunt Girls wanted hot cocoa after their run.
Over lunch, and a hot cup of hot chocolate, Run S’more was created.

Grunt Girl Racing and Harry London Chocolates/Fannie May
would like to thank all whom participated and supported the race.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit One of a Kind Animal Shelter.

Shatter the Silence

The second annual Shatter the Silence will literally shatter the silence

- One in six women in America will be a victim of sexual assault
- Every two minutes, someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted
- 60 percent of sexual assaults are not reported to the police
- Approximately 2/3 of assaults are committed by someone
known to the victim
- 38 percent of rapists are a friend or acquaintance

More than a handful of the Grunt Girls are survivors of sexual assault.
Race Director Stacy Rhea is one GG willing to step up to the plate and help
shatter the silenceby wearing a purple shirt to show she is a survivor.
(Purple is an option – others may opt for white to show their support)

At age 8, Rhea was assaulted by a family member.
She never spoke about it until she was 21.

“For years I walked around with a dark secret, wondering why …”

Rhea does not have the answer to that question, but with the help of
co-race director, Andrea Chisnell and the GGs, Rhea hopes to help
shatter the silence by educating,empowering and inspiring
others to talk and support one another.

Rape is a crime, talking about it isn’t.

Show your support and open the door to help support GGs
and their efforts to Shatter the Silence.
A portion of the proceeds will go the
Summit and Medina Rape Crisis Center.

Fools 25K & 50K
Sunny & Cold (35 degrees) – a beautiful day for a trail race

First, I want to congratulate Sean Pope – not only was he the overall winner, he beat the course record by 27 minutes. Sandy Nypaver finished first for the women and set a new course record for the women. Lee Connor placed second for the women and also beat the old course record. Official times are not posted. As soon as they are, I will add a link to my post.

Kim Zepp ran her first 25K trail race. Her expression says it all!

Anastiasia Birosh had an excellent race. She finshed two hours ahead of her estimated finishing time – congrats!

Gaborooni proves men can sleep anywhere! This was his first 25K too.
